About Explore Activism
Core activism beliefs include:
- Societies are dominated by those who seek wealth and power.
- Politicians care much more about staying in office than integrity.
- People can unite and improve the world by using a combination of means encouraged by society as well as political pressure.
Societies are complex, and there are times to cooperate as well as times to rebel. The songs on this website are intended to boost empathy and the will to improve the world.
Progressives have always been divided over issues and how much to support the establishment. 2024 is an especially difficult year as many people are focused primarily on Trump and Project 2025 while others are working to end the genocide in Gaza. Each one is a crisis that cannot be ignored. Hopefully, top people in the Democratic Party will accept that the mass murder of Palestinians must be stopped. This will help to unify progressives and benefit both the US and people suffering and dying in Israel/Palestine.
"Artist" is often chosen because the site editor liked a given performance of a song. Many of the most famous songs, political and general are actually cover versions. While Bob Dylan was the most important song writer of the 1960s, most people know versions of his songs performed by Peter, Paul, and Mary as well as Joan Baez.

Sometimes visiting the above sites can be discouraging. There are successes, however. Some Nordic countries have forced some responsibility on those with power. Even in the US, there have been major victories over racism, sexism, and homophobia. Activism helped to end the Vietnam War.
